In this project, the overall topic is an acceleration in society and an invisible psychologic boundary between the individual and the world. By observing coldness and separation among individuals in competitive speed society, Ji Yoon has gotten questions of ‘What speed do we live at?’, ‘Do we live as subject or object in the speed of the world?’ and ‘What does the fluidity of place in contemporary bring us?’. With referring to ‘Dromology’ by Paul Virilio and ‘The outdatedness of a human being’ by Gunther Anders that critically approached to dominant technology situation in the world, she has been focusing on ‘blindness’, ‘potential risk’ and ‘loss of independence’ of rapid speed phenomenon in contemporary society.

 

The vertical movement is the opposite direction to the horizontal afterimage of radical speed that transcends individuals. Thus, her personal definition of verticality is the resistance expression to the fast speed and it is a will to not to shaken by outward pace.
